| Allt-a-Bhainne was built on the slopes of Benrinnes which provides plentiful water supplies. While it is a relatively new distillery, having been built by Chivas in 1975, it was expanded in 1989 to a capacity of approximately 4m litres of alcohol. The distillery passed to Pernod Ricard (Chivas Brothers) following the sale of Seagrams to Pernod Ricard and Diageo. In 2005 Chivas re-opened the distillery after three years of silence.
There has never been an official bottling of Allt-a-Bhainne (which loosely translates as 'burn of milk') however, there have been several independent bottlings available. |
