| Caperdonich distillery was initially built in 1897 as Glen Grant No.2 as a back up to its parent distillery. However following the Pattison's crash the distillery soon closed as the demand for whisky disappeared. In 1965 the distillery reopened as Caperdonich and was purchased by Seagrams of Canada in 1977. Although the distillery uses the same water source as Glen Grant the whiskies clearly differ, with Caperdonich being lighter and slightly smokier than Glen Grant. |
