Tomatin

Filled from casks that were laid down at the Tomatin distillery in 2009, this new 'Discovery' release from G&M sees the exclusive use of American oak ex-bourbon barrels to produce a sweet and smooth single malt. The nose is intense with honey and fragrant pear, with a background note of spring blossoms. The palate is fruity with melon and white peach, leading to vanilla custard and a herbal finish that builds softly with oak spice.

The nose is fresh and fruity with honey like sweetness, fresh apple juice and rich vanilla custard alongside hot buttery toast. The fresh quality continues on the palate with notes of blackberries and rhubarb and sweet spiced malt loaf. The finish carries across a sweet and creamy chocolate note.

Matured at the Tomatin distillery for 14 years, this new expression from the distillery was aged in old Tawny Port casks, giving the whisky a background of red berries and toffee, joining the classic fruity, nutty flavours found in Tomatin's whisky. While richer and more full bodied, it still retains its gentle soft nature.
