This release from Laws uses a heirloom strain of barley that has been revived. It has been maturing for 5 years in 53-gallon charred oak barrels. It has aromas of apple blossom, honey and toasted oats. The palate offers fresh apple, sugar biscuits, seagrass and sweet pipe tobacco.

A rare indpendently bottled Aberfeldy, this 7 year old comes from ex-Oloroso sherry Hogshead. The nose is rather warm and funky, with warm rubbery notes, colliding with sweet strawberry confection. To taste, it is reminisent of rich hot chocolate on a cold winter's evening , rich vanilla ice cream and soft fruits. The finish is long and mellow, warming and sweet.

A classic Speyside dram, Aberlour 12 is a vatting of ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks. It carries notes of dried fruit (juicy raisins and sultanas) and vanilla toffee, leading into a slightly spicy and lingering finish. A very worthwhile replacement to the 10 years old.

Aberlour a'bunadh is a natural cask strength single malt whisky. Taken directly from specially selected sherry casks it is bottled as simply as possible without the use of modern filtering methods or the addition of water. This is a dark, strong mega-sherried Aberlour a'bunadh, matured exclusively in Spanish casks that formerly were home to Oloroso sherry. This is one of the best-value cask strength whiskies available.

This 30 year old selection from Adelphi, hailing from an undisclosed, secret distillery in Speyside. While there are many distilleries in the area, this is one of the most distinctive, and very rarely seen to fill an ex-bourbon barrel such as this.

The perfumy nose has aromas of cedar with fresh red apples, banana and ripe citrus fruit with a herbal and vegetable characteristic. The palate is nutty and oaky with strawberry and zesty grapefruit. Great acidity with a salted nutty, honey glazed almond, marzipan-like spicy finish.

Batch 6 of Adelphi's 'Laudale' series offers a selection of 12 year old ex-sherry casks from the Dailuaine distillery. This is a a rich and complex dram, offering flavour of golden syrup, flambeed orange and demerara sugar to start, with cinnamon churros offering sweet and spicy tones. Nutty and spiced to finish, this is classic sherried Dailuaine.

The Sändebud is a pioneerring fusion of single cask whiskies from Scotland and Sweden, created in honour of Scottish Lawyer turned merchant, Colin Campbell who moved to Sweden in 1731, where he co-founded the Swedish East India Trading Company. A world first, bottled at cask strength, this whisky is a fusion of peated and unpeated malt, creating a wonderfully balanced, characterful dram.

The initial notes on the nose from Ailsa Bay is of fresh wood smoke, which develops into damp heather and a smouldering bonfire. Sweet and vanilla notes are also found with uplifting orange peel. These notes follow through to the palate, fruit and creamy toffee also found. To finish there is an oaky sweetness and a drying smoke.

This 17 year old Allt a'Bhainne was selected by Alistair Walker for its rich and intense flavour, with lashings of toasted oak and nutty flavours from the virgin oak barrel finish. Baked goods abound on the nose, with brandy snaps and honey joining molten Demerara sugars, allspice and star anise.

This multi award winning expession from Amrut Distillery gets its name from the fact it uses barley from two locations - India and Scotland. The Scottish barley is peated, which combines with the local barley to produce a dram with gentle peat characteristics, rich oak flavours with a long and lingering finish.

From the 'Garden City of India' comes this peaty offering from Amrut Distillery of Bangalore. There are rich flavours of smokey cured meats, fruit and caramel - a great example of peated whisky from outside of Scotland.

'From the land of the great Himalayas' comes this new release from Amrut distillery, bottled at a punchy 61.8% and is classic Amrut in style delivering fruity flavours such as orange and apricot along with sweet spice and a buttery oaky character.

anCnoc, from the Knockdhu distillery remains one of our favourite single malts from Scotland. It is light and smooth with a surprising depth of flavour. On the nose you get fruity floral notes with some lemon, honey and vanilla creme brulee. The palate is full and sweet, with a good body (mouthfeel) and lingering on a delicate spice and vanilla/fruity flavour.

A rare sight to see, this unknown Highland Distillery has been slumbering in an ex-bourbon barrel for a full 37 Years in the Cadenhead vaults. The flavours have all come straight from the Belgium Christmas markets with aromas of brandy snaps, gingerbread with thick butter and baked apples. The palate is oily and rich with a heavy dusting of allspice over apple crumble. Finally, this dram is rounded off with warm hoppy notes that remind us of a final stein by the fire, followed by juicy prunes and roasted hazelnuts. 

Distilled from heavily peated barley at Annandale distillery, this expression was chosen from a single fresh ex-bourbon barrel, laid down in 2018 and bottled in 2023. The nose offers a smouldering smoked barley note, sweet and fragrant initially, with a drying ashy intensity that builds. The casks have imparted a vanilla-rich flavour like French vanilla ice cream, with charred bell peppers and paprika-like heat. An exciting new addition to our Lowland shelves, and a rare example of peated whisky from the region.

Chosen from a single ex-bourbon cask, this new expression offers a glimpse in to the hard work that has been taking place at Annandale since the distillery re-opened in 2014. Founded in 1830 in the Lowland's of Scotland, Annandale distillery remained operational until its closure in 1918. Used as a farm up until 2007, and after nearly 7 years of work, was re-opened in 2014. This release comes from a single cask distilled in 2018 from unpeated barley, and was matured in an ex-bourbon barrel. Chocolate coated hokey pokey and buttery crumbed plum or rhubarb pudding join wild honey tones throughout. A welcome addition to our ever-growing Lowland whisky region.

The first independently bottled expression of Annandale we have seen since its rebirth in 2014, This seven year old example was bottled by Glasgow based bottlers North Star Spirits.  Distilled in 2015, before being laid down to mature in a single Oloroso Sherry Butt. The result is a soft mellow and rather sweet dram with elements of spun sugar, boozy fruit cake and gentle spice on the nose, followed along by notes of sticky date pudding, spicy gingerbread and wafts of freshly cracked black pepper on the palate.  The spices linger on the finish with wafts of sweet Christmas spices accompanied by sweet chewy caramel.

Made with malted barley and malted rye, this malted rye has been matured in American oak casks that have air dried for 36 months. There are notes of ginger, stone fruit and baked apple pie with a fresh herbal finish that lingers on the palate.

Made from a combination of apera (sherry) cask, ex-bourbon casks and Archie Rose’s own 36-month air-dried ex-rye casks. There are notes of herbs, shortbread biscuits, raisins, toffee and dark chocolate on the nose. The palate offers notes of sticky date pudding and amaretto with a final note of espresso.

This is a special release from Archie Rose is part of their smoked whisky collection. This whisky has been smoked with wood from Australian stingybark trees. Notes of campfire smoke, smoked meats, marzipan, amaretto and sctoch finger biscuits are found in this whisky. This release is limited to 2450 bottles available. 

Ardbeg 'An Oa' is the latest release from the iconic Ardbeg distillery on Islay, named after the southern point of the island known as the Mull of Oa (pronounced 'oh'). A creation of three different cask types that are married in a new 'gathering' vat which allows these flavours to mellow and mingle. The aroma is classic Ardbeg - sooty, ashy peat smoke wrapped in a lush sweetness, joined by spices and sea-spray. The palate is sweet and heavy with an oily mouthfeel, followed by rich peat smoke and hints of dark chocolate bitterness in the finish. A welcome new addition to the permanent Ardbeg range - gather 'round and get to know An Oa.
