Berry Brother's and Rudd

This expression from Blair Athol distillery in Pitlochry has been selected from a single Pedro Ximenez Hogshead by Berry Bro's and Rudd. Matured for a total of 14 years, the deep rich colour hints at the influence of the PX cask. The nose is an abundance of stewed fruits, with a base of malt sweetness and gentle spice. The palate is rich and luxurious, unfurling with notes of dates, dark chocolate and hints of sweet nutmeg and cinnamon spice, lingering sweet spiced fruit notes of sherry soaked raisins and spicy oak.   

Distilled at the The Great Northern Distillery, this whiskey represents a classic example of Irish whiskey, specially selected by the great Berry Bro's. & Rudd of London. A fresh and invigorating nose, redolent with the fragrance of succulent apples. Spicy vanilla notes emerges from the oak, imparting depth and complexity. The whiskey's texture on the palate is lush and oily, coupled with a crisp apple acidity that infuses it with a lively vibrancy.

A select few casks from the famously smoky whiskies of Islay have been blended together to create this new expression from BBR, offering the distinctive tarry, peaty & smoky characteristics of Islay. The smoky aroma is initially dry, like that of an empty peat kiln, building to a sweet and creamy fullness on the palate, with a long finish..

Created by Doug McIvor from a selection of just a handful of single malts, it has been selected to evoke the "old fashioned" Highland style, balancing peat and soft sweet yellow fruits. The mild, peatyness has fruity tones throughout, with expressive bursts of soot and smoke coming through on the mid-long finish.

Created by Doug McIvor, the Spirits curator for Berry Bros. & Rudd, this release is created exclusively from single malts that matured in ex-sherry casks. The nose is inviting and has a classic dark sherry and prune-like aroma, with a touch of freshly struck matches. The taste gives a sweet, well-balanced fruit and a chewy, satisfying finish with nuts and toffee.

Many of Scotland's most famous whiskies hail from Speyside, and this new release from BBR sees a handful of single malts masterfully blended together by Doug McIvor to capture the essence of the regions iconic producers. Doug writes that the bouquet has notes of honeyed fruit, citrus and soft wood; the palate is creamy and rounded with a soft, orchard fruit flavour.

This expression of Glen Elgin whisky, bottled by Berry Bro's and Rudd as part of their Glens and Valleys collection has been matured for eleven years in a single Hogshead cask. The light straw colour hints to a fresh and floral profile. On the nose there are notes of sugared homemade short bread, fresh out of the oven, split vanilla pods and gentle wafts of orchard freshness. Notes of green apples and pears dance across the palate with a creamy texture. The finish is introduced with a hint of white pepper as the sweetness recedes, giving way to floral honey. 

Part of Berry Bro's and Rudd's Glens an Valleys collection, this single cask bottling from Glen Garioch Distillery in Inverurie has been matured for twelve years, with a finish in an ex Oloroso cask. The nose greets you with notes of rich stewed fruits and hints of tanned leather, showing clear cask influence. The palate offers up notes of dried figs and lashings of black pepper with rich toffee and sturdy oak notes. The finish is lingering with dry spicy notes and hints of tobacco leaf.

This bottling of single cask Glen Ord makes up part of Berry Bro's and Rudd's Glens and Valleys collection. Itwas distilled in 2007 and matured for sixteen years in a Hogshead cask, with and outturn of just 261 bottles. The nose of this Highland gem begins with a stroll though an autumnal orchard, with vibrant juicy fruits and earthy tones of roasted chestnuts. Dark cherries, plums and toasted nuts coat the palate creating a rich and elegant mouthfeel with a long and lingering finish of sweet spiced oak.

This expression from Glenlossie distillery has been matured for thirteen years in a single Hogshead cask selected by Berry Bro's and Rudd for their Glens and Valleys collection. There are inviting aromas of crisp green apples and pears on the nose, with subtle hints of floral heather and wafts of vanilla hints at the casks influence. The palate is a harmonious marriage of sweet and spice, with notes of honey drizzled barley intertwined with sprinkles of white pepper and zesty touches of fresh lemon, transitioning flawlessly to a finish of sweet flaked almonds and oak spice.

This single cask expression from Knockdhu distillery has been bottled from a refil Hogshead, and showcases a traditional approach to the lighter side of Speyside expressions. The nose opens with dry nutty notes that become more apparent with time in the glass, alongside notes of green fruits and banana bread fresh out of the oven. The palate is equally complex, with a marriage of fruits, wood spice and more of the distillate forward nuttiness, with a lovely and full mouthfeel. Hints of green tobacco and burts of citrus and honeyed sweetness round out the finish on this stellar Speyside classic.

This example of peated spirit from Tobermory distilery, known as Ledaig, has been finished in an ex-Oloroso hogshead and offers an array of smoky, savoury tones. There are aromas of smoky bacon and grilled meats alongside ashy wood. The smoked meats develop further on the palate along with notes of Cullen Skink (smoky fish soup), wood smoke and sweet touches of cocoa. The humble trunce of peat, set alight and left to infuse its character into the barley is what makes whiskies like this so special, it is a unique flavour that is deeply rewarding and evocative.

An absolute classic Speysider, this small batch Linkwood has been bottled from a parcel of American oak Hogsheads, offering aromas of high tea, with warm Victoria sponges and rich toffee fudge. The palate follows along with a creamy light theme, with notes of vanilla yogurt, toasted oak and gently spiced stewed apples. A winter night's desserty finish with more of that spiced apple flavour, this time like a warm pie topped with vanilla ice cream.

This classy old Speyside dram from Miltonduff carries a nose of coconut, warm malt loaf and stewed spiced apples, with a nutty profile given time in the glass. A fresh and vibrant spicy, soft fruit and honeyed flavour throughout shows the perfect balance of oak and spirit. A truly classic BBR selection, reminding us that there is no substitute for long maturation in a refill cask.

Hailing from an undisclosed distillery from Scotland's far Northern Orkney Islands. This punchy Oloroso cask matured Orchadian starts off with a huff and puff of coastal turfy peat smoke, much more than one would expect from this distillery. wafts of heather, leather and hot coals emerge on the nose. The palate showcases the sherry wood influence wonderfully, with rich boozy fruits and soft sweet spice balancing perfectly with the thick coal smoke and lighter notes of sticky honey and burned lime. the sooty peat continues on through the finish, combined with waves of sherried fruit and honey.

Smögen distillery lies on the West coast of Sweden and aims to produce small-scale single malts using local materials to emanate the profile of the surrounding landscape. This particular bottling from BBR, drawn from an Oloroso hogshead, expresses just that, with a nose bursting with grilled lime, smoky bacon, leather work boots and seaweed. The palate develops a fresh hay, alongside a touch of sweet fruit, pear drops and apricot jam. Peat smoke builds to a big, coastal finish with a hint of orange zest.

Crafted by acclaimed independent whisky bottlers Berry Bro's. & Rudd, this blended Nordic whisky features ex-sherry cask matured whiskies fromFary Lochan (Denmark), Mosgaard (Denmark), Teerenpeli (Finland), High Coast and Smögen from Sweden, and by no means last, Myken distillery in Norway.

This single cask expression from the Elgin classic that is Glen Moray has been bottled from a single American Oak barrel, resulting in a wonderfully light and sweet dram. Notes of banana milkshakes and praline icecream burst out of the glass to meet the nose, along with rich marzipan, and ripe fruit notes of cherry and apricot emerging with time in the glass. The palate continues on with the banana notes, however dried this time, along with sweet wheat and complex waves of vanilla pods, sweet oak and cereal grains. The finish is long, smooth and sweet, giving dustings of cocoa, rice pudding and syrupy fruit salad.
