Deanston

This whisky from Deanston has been certified organic by the Organic Food Federation. Notes of raisins and sweet malt are found on the nose. The body is full with notes of espresso, chocolate cherries and oak infused honey. The finish has sweet candied fruits, gentle cinnamon and chocolate.

With the relaxation of regulations regarding cask finishing by the SWA (Scotch Whisky Association,) many distilleries have begun exploring finishing their whiskies in a range of new cask types.  The first of these limited-edition experimental bottlings by Deanston, this fifteen-year-old expression has been finished in hand selected casks hailing from the Los Altos de Jalisco region of Mexico.

Deanston?s classic core grainy and floral notes with hints of nuttiness make an appearance, alongside light and tropical fruity notes brought forward thanks to the cask influence.

The palate balances rich caramelized agave with dry spicy notes and rich stewed apples and custard with a long and lingering warm spicy finish with bursts of sweet citrus.

This expression from Deanston has been produced exclusively from virgin oak wood (fresh wood that hasn't held any liquid previously). This dram provides vanilla and lemon zest on the nose, with fresh apples and nutmeg on the finish. This is bottled at 46.3%, which is Deanston distillery's preferred ABV.
