Glenturret

Peated whiskies from the Highland's of Scotland remain rare these days, and this new expression from Glenturret shows this style very well - a mingling of earthy peat smoke and vanilla, fruity sweetness combine in a unique way. The oak spices and mild smoke are balanced together alongside a slightly salty and heather-herbal tang. This is the newest 2022 Release.

Glenturret have introduced a new and exciting whisky as part of their core range for 2022. The Glenturret 7 years Old Peat Smoked has been matured in sherry seasoned American oak casks and also in refill casks, bringing confectionery sweetness and lively smoke character. An abundance of smoke opens on the nose, with dried fruits and fresh orchid fruits. The palate has a lovely earthiness due to the peating process, warming smoke flows through to zesty citrus fruits, apples, pears and butterscotch sauce. Smouldering smoke meets with oak spice on the finish.

The heart of Glenturret?s core range, the 12-year-old is aged in a range of American oak Hogsheads as well as a selection of European oak casks and is beautifully presented in Glenturret?s signature Lalique style decanter bottle.

The nose is classic Glenturret with aromas of creamy vanilla custard, sweet baking spices and sweet oak.

This is complimented by notes of cinnamon dusted baked apples, vanilla, cherry pie, and sweet spicy oak on the palate. With a lingering dry spice and sweet oaky finish. A truly wonderful and complex sherry cask aged dram.

The jewel in the crown of the new Glenturret range is this 30 year old, carefully selected by Master Blender Bob Dalgarno from just a handful of some of the oldest casks at the distillery. Included in the cask selection are Europeak oak ex-sherry, ex-Moscatel and even whisky that matured in an ex-Port cask that was first coopered over 100 years ago. Bottled in a bespoke wooden box and Lalique crystal decanter, this expression showcases the rich, deeply fruity and complex character of Glenturret, with exotic spice, tropical fruits vanilla and incredible woody tones. An incredible old single malt from the oldest operating distillery in Scotland.
