Sagamore Spirit is a traditional Maryland-style rye, made from a blend of high and low-rye mashbill whiskey, matured in heavily charred American oak barrels. This type of whiskey pre-dates bourbon, especially in this area, and it is often seen as the original American whiskey. To taste, this is a classic example of the style, with candied dried orange peel, walnut and brown sugar accompanying the hallmark clove and nutmeg spicy flavour. The finish is peppery and warming.
