This whisky is a crescendo, initially the nose is a little closed, but after a few minutes breathing in the glass, a glorious bouquet of dry, coastal and zesty ash emerges. A complex weave of seaweed, lapsang souchong, lanolin and sour lemon join underripe peach. The palate continues this peated complexity with more citrus, ash soot and even harbour rope and leather. In the words of BBR's spirits master, "You may find yourself cancelling the spring ferry to Islay, and checking how to get the Isle of Mull instead."
Produced by independent bottlers Elixir Distillers, this series forms part of a mutli-year release inspired by Shakespear's iconic play, Macbeth. Each bottling is named and inspired by one of the iconic characters of the play, and includes a label bearing the work of internationally renowned artist Sir Quentin Blake.Produced at the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, this heavily peated whisky (known as the original distillery name of Ledaig). Evoking its birthplace by the sea, there is a distinctly coastal quality of sea-shell beaches and shucked oysters, moving to a thick reek of peat smoke fresh from the kiln. Fresh white pepper and cut woods add spicy tones throughout, finishing long and peaty.
