This third release from the Ardnamurchan distillery has been much anticipated, made from a mixture of peated and unpeated whisky that has matured on the far reaches of the west coast of Scotland. While Ardnamurchan use a wide range of cask types, this particular expression is a vatting of 35% ex-sherry casks and 65% ex-bourbon casks. The distillery profile is at the fore, with mussels on a rope, burnt orange peel, and a touch of mint. On the palate there are flavours of peanut brittle, fried bananas, and smouldering, smokey driftwood. Another stand-out release from the team at Ardnamurchan who continue to create a complex, characterful and distinctive whisky.
