Balmenach is a wee bit of a rare treat here at Whisky Galore, so it's always exciting when we have some in stock. This expression, bottled by Douglas Laing & Co, has been aged for ten years and drawn from a single refill Butt. Bottled at and approachable 46%, this expression has not undergone chill-filtration. The nose on this dram is lovely, soothing and sweet, with initial notes of sweet cereals, followed on by notes of a hot toddy on a cold winters night, with marmalade on thick toast and browned sugar. The sweet and warming spicy nature develops further on the palate, with notes of sweet ginger, woody cinnamon and a distinct lemony tang. Followed on by fresh baked croissants and vanilla extract. The finish brings more citrus zest, along with freshly sawn timber, gooey caramel and thick buttered toast.
