Produced from heavily peated (55ppm) barley and matured exclusively in first-fill ex-sherry casks, this new release from Benromach showcases the distillery's distinctive use of fresh wood & peat smoke to create its unique style. The sherry casks bring their distinctive dried fruit flavour, alongside chocolate, brown sugar and spice, with the plumes of peat smoke from the barley giving great contrast. The smoke here is wonderfully sweet and fragrant, surrounding more dark fruit (cherry) without the medicinal edge found in most other peated drams.
