Bunnahabhain 'Old & Rare' 1989 / 27 years old 50.8%
Product Description

Region: Islay

Strength: 50.8%

Volume: 700ml

Distilled at Bunnahabhain distillery, this Old & Rare bottling from Hunter Laing was distilled in 1989 and left to mature for 27 years and then bottled at it's natural cask strength. The nose offers notes of home baking and caramel which is joined by delicate florals and a slight hint of seaweed, a hint to Bunnahabhain's home by the sea. To taste, the palate is smooth and creamy, which starts with vanilla and moves into notes of bananas and pears which adds a fruitiness and body. The finish is dry and long lasting with salty notes. A fine example of Islay's traditionally unpeated whisky, offering a uniquely soft and refined flavour of the Isle.

The nose on the Bunnahabhain 18 is truly incredible - huge notes of rich honey, nuts, old leather, dried fruits and a hint of sea-side smoke. A distinct umami (the Japanese word for 'savoury', think soy sauce and dried meat) character and a truly to-die-for rich dark chocolate flavour push this whisky in to a league far beyond what its age and p...

Overall this is an easy-going, full flavoured dram, showing sherry cask influences with ripe banana & syruppy pear, brazil nuts and toasted malt aromas.
