This Caol Ila has been aged for eight years in a refill ex-sherry butt and bottled at a curiously low strength for its age at 51%. The Peat is very pronounced and forward on the nose, and is complimented by sweet herbal notes of aniseed sweets, and sticky sweet sugared oranges. Sweet Citrus notes continue on the palate, colliding with dry bonfire ash and thick sooty notes. The finish is classic Caol Ila, slightly medicinal, peaty and increasingly coastal and citrusy.
