Loch Lomond distillery is the maverick amongst the distilleries of Scotland, producing a plethora of spirit types including the mildly peated 'Croftengea'. The peating level is unknown, but it is mild by comparison to the malts of the West coast. This expression was bottled after a 16 year maturation, the final portion of which was spent in a PX sherry cask.
On the nose Muscovado sugar, sweet spiciness, and a distinct waft of peat smoke. On the palate there is immediate richness, dried fruits, chocolate, and more peat. The finish is peppery and with a lingering peat smokiness.
