Rarely seen as a single malt, Dallas Dhu operated as a distillery between the years 1899 and 1983. Dallas Dhu distillery was then sold in 1986 to Historic Scotland who now runs as a distilling museum. Distilled in 1981, one of their final years of production, this single malt was matured in a refill American hogshead for 38 years and still holds an impressive 60.1% abv. Aromas of fragrant tropical fruits, honey, grapefruit zest, crystalized violets and sweet lime. Smooth and sweet vanilla on the palate, cracked black pepper, fresh chillies, ripe apples and roasted nuts. Slight dry finish, full of oak and herbal notes.
