Garnheath 'Xtra Old Particular' 1974 / 43 years old 47.5%
Product Description

Region: Lowland

Strength: 47.5%

Volume: 700ml

Garnheath is the name given to grain whisky produced at the Moffat distillery complex in Airdrie, a large-scale whisky operation that at one time had 1,000 workers on site. Garnheath spirit was first produced in 1965 and ending shortly thereafter in 1986, with this particular cask filled in 1974. There have been few expressions bottled from these stills, this being the first we have ever had in our shop. Tasting notes from bottlers Fred Laing of Douglas Laing & Co. speak of a round, aromatic and sweet whisky - flavours of maple syrup, cream, fruit salad and a complex fruitcake note linger throughout. A complex and very fine example of an ancient single grain whisky.

Unfortunately just a few years later it become one of the victims of ...
