Laid down in 2003, this Family Cask was matured in a very rare type of cask, one that has been used previously by the distillery 3 times. With the last (4th fill) maturation of 19 years, this cask has had plenty to offer, imparting a remarkable colour and character to the whisky - a sign of exceptional cask quality. With a more creamy, custardy tone, the heavy fruit and spice commonly found in Glenfarclas is lighter and softer here, offering a rare glimpse of a more spirit-driven character of the distillery.
This 2003 vintage was bottled on 27/07/2022 from a single 4th-fill butt, number #1970 which yielded just 593 bottles at a strength of 55.9%
