This incredible 50 year old is whisky regarded as the pinnacle of whisky produced at the Glengoyne distillery, made in their on words as unhurried and uncompromising. Sitting in a bespoke, hand-made wooden box, this special bottle rests as one of just 150 produced, and the only of its kind in New Zealand. Of the millions of casks that mature in Scotland, there are few that are able to reach such a grand age, and to date this is the oldest expression made by Glengoyne.
Tasting notes from Distillery Manager, Robbie Hughes:
Aroma: Rich, spicy oak burst, then molasses, treacle and liquorice take centre stage
Palate: Demerara sugar, walnuts, sweet pipe tobacco, red apples and cloves
Finish: The finish is long, going through savoury characteristics into a tingle of black pepper
