First appearing in excise records in 1833, the Glenury distillery is one of the more obscure distilleries in Scotland, never having a standard bottling of any sort up until 2004 when owners of the existing stock came out with this special release. Glenury was given a Royal Warrant in 1835, which made it one of only 3 distilleries able to do so (the other two are Lochnagar and Braeval). This small batch bottling has an exceptional reputation and was bottled at a cask strength of 52.1%, 36 years after it was originally distilled in 1968.
