Inverleven was the name given to the single malt whisky produced in pot stills that were installed at the Dumbarton grain distillery, existing for a relatively brief period from the late 1930's up until the late 1990's. We have rarely seen bottlings from Inverleven in the last 20 years, with only occasional releases from Scotland's independent bottlers it remains a very elusive and rare dram. This single cask bottling comes from a single refill bourbon barrel, matured for 29 years and yielding a remarkably low 71 bottles. G&M describe this whisky as being sweet to start, with coconut, chocolate and marshmallow followed by cracked black pepper and aniseed, lingering on a medium length finish with banana and spice.
