Another entry into the ‘Marriage of Casks’ series by The Single Malts of Scotland, this time we are treated to a 29-Year-old Jura. Matured in 5 ex-bourbon barrels and whose vintages range from 1991 to 1992, with an outturn of 576 bottles. Chewy caramel and clove sweets pulled from a brown paper bag arrive on the nose, slices of juicy nectarine, digestive biscuits, notes of liquorice and soft wood smoke. An extremely creamy palate, strawberry and white chocolate dessert, a hand full of barley sugars and crushed star anise. Crunchy cinnamon granola enveloped by a touch of barrel char. A complex ending of burnt honey drizzled over dry apricots, with a dusting of ground almond.
