Lagavulin '200th Anniversary' 8 years old 48%
Product Description

Region: Islay

Strength: 48%

Volume: 700ml

One of Scotland's most treasured distilleries, Lagavulin, celebrates their 200th anniversary this year, after its founding in 1816 by John Johnston. This limited edition 8 year old whisky is a celebration of the distilleries history, craft and the people who have worked for 2 centuries to make this whisky. This is a classic Lagavulin with a fragrant, drying peat smoke aroma laced with maratime character. Notes of milk chocolate and hints of citrus fruit come through on the palate, before a tea-scented smoke returns leaving the mouth dry, sooty and salty. A fitting dram to celebrate a remarkable bicentennary.

Unlike the more subdued 16 year old Lagavulin, the 12 year old is intense and uncompromising. Bottled at cask strength and offering a much stronger smoke and peat influence, it shows the more rugged and expressive side of the distillery. Sea-spray salty peat, citrus, cured smoky meats and a drying, spicy finish.

Matured in first-fill sherry casks, this is amongst the darkest Lagavulins ever released, offering a whisky that strikes a careful balance between the sherry and classic lagavulin peat smoke.
