Region Islay
Strength 53.5%
Volume 700ml

Sitting just on the northern edge of Islay's main port lies the great Port Ellen distillery, founded originally as a mill for malted barley in 1825 and converted into a distillery in the 1830's until its demise in 1983 during the closure of many distilleries around Scotland in that year. This limited edition release comes from the acclaimed bottlers Hunter Laing & Co, who remain one of the few sources of this rare liquid history, produced shortly before the stills fell silent. In ancient Greek literature, an eidolon is a recollection of something memorable from history - Hunter Laing?s Eidolon is being launched in anticipation of this ghost distillery being brought back to life as the distillery owners plan to resume production in the near future. Just 638 bottles of this whisky were produced.
