Smögen distillery lies on the West coast of Sweden and aims to produce small-scale single malts using local materials to emanate the profile of the surrounding landscape. This particular bottling from BBR, drawn from an Oloroso hogshead, expresses just that, with a nose bursting with grilled lime, smoky bacon, leather work boots and seaweed. The palate develops a fresh hay, alongside a touch of sweet fruit, pear drops and apricot jam. Peat smoke builds to a big, coastal finish with a hint of orange zest.
