This is Waterford's first release from the Hook Head farm, situated at the southern end of a small peninsula on the rugged south-east coast of Ireland. The barley grown here endures a windy, salty atmosphere, something the distillery claims has an effect on the spirit they produce. Waterford describe an earthy, malty dram to start, with caramel, milk chocolate and salted popcorn scents joining oak green foliage. The palate is described as a 'spice bomb', with cloves, white pepper and liquorice, with ginger biscuit and more. The full story behind this whisky is available through Waterford's unique Teireoir system, detailed on the back of the bottle.
