Distilled from heavily peated barley at Annandale distillery, this expression was chosen from a single fresh ex-bourbon barrel, laid down in 2018 and bottled in 2023. The nose offers a smouldering smoked barley note, sweet and fragrant initially, with a drying ashy intensity that builds. The casks have imparted a vanilla-rich flavour like French vanilla ice cream, with charred bell peppers and paprika-like heat. An exciting new addition to our Lowland shelves, and a rare example of peated whisky from the region.
