Tamdhu 12 years old 43%

The great Nikka love story

From 1918–1919, Masataka Taketsuru studied whisky-making in Scotland, moving beyond academics to hands-on training at Longmorn and Hazelburn, where he mastered malt production and blending and later compiled the “Taketsuru Notes.” While in Glasgow he met Rita Cowan, married her in 1920 despite opposition, and returned to Japan with her in November 1920 at her encouragement.

Tamdhu Distillery, which sits in the heart of Speyside, produces a classic rich, old fashioned, rounded style. The distillery fills exclusively ex-Sherry casks for the Tamdhu single malt. The twelve year old expression is full of dried fruits, sweet spiciness, and confectionary notes such as old fashioned boiled sweets and Scottish tablet. A very warming, smooth and rounded dram.
