The latest drams to hit the shelves...

Created by the team at Drinks By The Dram, this whisky collection contains 12 handwaxed 30ml bottles of whiskies from around the world, including Scotland, America, France and even Sweden. A fantastic way to gift someone 12 drams for Christmas - who wants a chocolate advent calendar when you can have this?

Matured for a total of 13 years, the final 2 years of this Caol Ila were spent finishing in ex-Sassicaia red wine casks, a 'super Tuscan' red wine from Italy. The cask shows its character immediately with blackcurrant, dried fig and black forrest fruityness wrapping around Caol Ila's meaty peat smoke. The smoke and fruit mingle together, combining to create a distinctive fruity, peaty concoction that has made this on-going release from G&M so popular.

Samhain, by Dingle distillery is named for the Gaelic festival which marks the end of harvest season and the start of winter. This triple distilled, limited edition release is selected from first fill ex-bourbon casks before a long finish (2 years) in first fill ex-Muscatel casks. A bursting floral, summer fruit quality opens the nose, with citrus, cherries and raspberries. Raisins, almonds and sweet spice linger, with almond (marzipan) throughout.

Aultmore is not an expression that is often seen as a distillery bottling, however there is a large number of independently bottled drams on offer. usaually known for being rather light and floral, this expression from Cadenheads, aged in both Fino Sherry and Manzanilla casks shows of a richer side to the spirit.

the nose is rich sweet and rather Christmassy, with a slight nuttiness, notes of zesty orange peel, raw sugar and maraschino cherries.  

on the palate there are notes of fresh green apples, dried fruits and sweet cinnamon spice.

The finish is warm sweet and nutty, with notes of walnut brittle, maple syrup and pulpy orange juice.

This expression, distilled at Benriach and bottled by W.M Cadenhead's has been aged for twelve years and has been finished in an ex Sauternes cask. 

the nose is rather light, sweet and creamy, with notes of banana ice cream, fresh apples, custard cream biscuits and juicy apricots.

There is a distinct cask influence on the palate, with notes of soft white grapes, vanilla bean ice cream, freshly baked sponge cake and marzipan icing. 

There are notes of fresh warm buttery croissants, picked goosberries and once again marzipan on the finish.

This rich and nutty Craigellachie friom W.M Cadenheads has been aged for a total of fifteen years and was finished in 100% Port casks from 2021. While offering big bold flavours, the soft warming fruit notes and rich nuttiness will make sure it appeals to aa wide audience.

The nose offers notes of praline and dark chocolate, alongside moffat toffee and orange liquer. While the palate offers sweet spiced notes of gingerbread, alongside stewed plums and cola flavoured sweets, with a long sweet and spiced finish of crystalised ginger, brazil nuts and black liquorice 

This expression from Glencadam is comprised of a vatting of Oloroso sherry and Bourbon casks, being heavier on the sherry. This whisky has been aged for ten years and is unchillfiltered and whithout added colouring.

The nose is bold and very fruit forward, with notes of summer fruits, syrup laden fruit salad and tangy citrus. The palate offers notes of fresh oranges, ginger liquer, sweet cola and orange soda. The finish is rich and desserty, with notes of carmel custard tarts, custard cream biscuits and bakewell tarts, with a  slight hint of white pepper.

This expression, distilled at the Glen Elgin distillery in 2007 has been aged for Fifteen years before being finished in a ex Sauternes Hogshead cask and then bottled by Alistair Walker, at the cask's natrual strength of 55.4%

The nose is sweet, caramely and nutty, with notes of peanut brittle and brandy snaps

On the Palate, ther is Glen Elgin's characteristic honeyed sweetness, compimented with rich orchard and stewed fruit notes, brought in from the cask influence.

The finish is long drying and gently spicy, with both savory notes of black pepper and sweet notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Distillery bottlings of Inchgower are very few and far between, but thankfully indepently bottled expressions are rather plentiful 

This expression, bottled by Alistair Walker was distilled in 2008 and aged for fifteen years before being finished for an undisclosed period in an ex PX Sherry Puncheon cask.

The nose is classic Inchgower, with sweet rich caramel and dark chocolate notes, with hints of coconut and sweet, herbal aniseed.

There is a strong cask influence on the palate, however not overwhelming.  thick and rich with desserty notes of carmelised sugar and hazelnut praline chocolate.

The finish is sweet and herbal with elements of star anise and boiled aniseed sweets.

This expression, distilled at Teaninich distillery in the Highlands, has been aged for fourteen years before being transferred into an American Oak, ex Rye Whiskey cask, and bottled by Alistair Walker at the cask's undiluted strength of 55.6%.

the nose is soft, malty and fruity., With otes  of syrupy pineapple, malty biscuits and freshly picked apples.

The palate is initially sweet, fruity and floral with bubblegum and floral and fizzy violet notes. Rounded off with big notes of classic Rye spice, bold and peppery.

This expression is a great example of an old Islay whisky, Bold, but yet well balanced. Distilled in 1997 at Bowmore distillery, this whisky has been slumbering away for twenty five years before being finished for an unknown period of time in an ex Pedro Ximenez Hogshead.

the nose is as intense as you would expect, notes of burnt rubber, sweet peat, rich orchard fruits and a distinct resinous woody note. (freshly cut pine)

The peat and rich sweetness of the PX combine wonderfully on the palate, with elements of Bowmore's classic sweet peat combining with big BBQ flavours and classic tangy and fruity PX sherry sweetness.

Craigellachie distillery, located just a stones throw from the famed Craigellachie Hotel is a traditional Speyside distillery, known for their continued use of Worm Tubs.

This expression, distilled in 2012, has been aged for ten years and finished in a Madeira Hogshead cask before being bottled at cask strength, in this case 61.1%

there is a rather unusual note of burnt rubber on the nose, followed by savory notes of Marmite as well as some earthy and vegetal notes.

the Palate is far sweeter, thanks to the Maderia cask influence. thick honey drizzled on brioche bread, spun sugar and chewy dark toffee, rounded off with a sweet, spicy finish.

This expression, distilled at Tullibardine distillery in 2012, was aged for ten years and has been finished in Recioto della Valpolicella ( a sweet and intensely flavoured Italian red wine.) Hogshead casks.

The nose is heavy, initially very fruit forward, with notes of stewed plums and cranberry sauce. Cake like sweetness develops further on the nose.

The palate is deep, rich and sweet, this is a dram for those of us who love their desserts. Notes of rum and raisin ice cream are joined with hints of nuttiness and berry compote.

Glenglassaugh is a distillery that is rarely seen independently bottled, so it's always exciting one shows up. This example, bottled by Alistair Walker and distilled in 2014 and aged for eight years before being finished  in a Virgin Oak barrel before being bottled at cask strength (59.1% in this case.)

the nose is very sweet, like opening up an assorted biscuit tin, shortbread and custard creams to name a few. with hints of sweet fruity yogurt also making an appearance.

The palate is rich and sweet, with plenty of cask influence while still being youthful and vibrant. Vanilla bean ice cream, marzipan icing and rich honeycomb are complimented by a rather spicy but still sweet finish, with notes of black pepper and fresh baked cinnamon scrolls.

Milton distillery, was built in 1786 in the village of Keith, and it still remains in production on the original site. As the oldest continuously operating distillery in Speyside., how is it this name is little-known outside of old whisky books and locals? Milton operated under its original name until 1951 when it was re-named by the new owners (Chivas Bro's.) to Strathisla, now one of the most recognised and sought-after whiskies in Scotland.

Gordon & MacPhail have purchased spirit from Milton and then Strathisla for decades, and over the years we have seen a number of old expressions from them, but only ever under the Strathisla name..

In 2022, Gordon & MacPhail took the historic step of bottling this, their final ever cask bearing the name Milton, producing just 180 bottles. This 1949, 72 year old is the oldest expressions to be released under either the Milton or Strathisla name, and is officially the last cask of its kind from G&M.
