Blended Whiskies

This new blend from Adelphi takes its name from long-time collaborator and whisky legend Charles Maclean (MBE), and by pure coincidence, a rocky landmark known as 'Maclean's nose' near the Ardnamurchan distillery. This is an old-fashioned style of blend - a very high proportion of single malt is used (70%) predominantly from the west coast of Scotland, giving this whisky a flavour of burnt citrus peel, sea salt toffee and bonfires by the beach - a cracking blend to share this Christmas.

Named after an afflication suffered by distillery works of old who turned barley by hand, Monkey Shoulder is a blend of just 3 single malt whiskies - Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie. Warm spicy and toasted oak notes lead into a sweet vanilla'd aroma. The flavour is of creamy custard, a hint of dried fruit and cooked banana and honey with toasted spices lingering in the finish.

This blended malt has been made from a number of different whiskies, matured initially in first-fill and refill American and European casks and then finished in first fill oloroso Sherry butts. There are notes of fudge, cooked apples and fresh cherries.

A careful selection of Single Malt whiskies produced on some of the Island's of Scotland, including Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney. There is a subtle smoky and sweet character to the whisky, with fruity tones offset by the distant tang of sea-spray.

The Shackleton's blended malt was released with a view to recreating the style of whisky that accompanied Shackleton and his comrades to the South Pole in their 1907 expedition. A contribution is made from the sale of each bottle to the NZ Antarctic Heritage Trust.

A twelve-year-old blend from North Star Spirits of Glasgow, bottled from refill Oloroso butts and composing of both grain and malt whiskies. This whisky has aromas of jaffa cakes, sweet, toasted oak and vanilla pods. There are distinct meaty notes on the palate, alongside fresh stone fruit (peaches and plums) and a hint of dried herbs.

The Gauldrons is blended malt scotch whisky bottled by Douglas Laing and is a blend that has been produced to capture the heart of Campbeltown whisky. The nose starts with barley sugars and a slight saltiness and moves into a gentle smoke. The palate has a dry mouthfeel which has notes of sea air, which moves into notes of muscovado sugar, light oak and biscuit. The saltiness is carried through the finish and is rounded off with creme brulee.

West Cork Irish Stout Cask Matured Blended Irish Whiskey is made from a delicate blend of grain (75%) and malt (25%) whiskey. It is aged in first fill bourbon casks and then finished in casks that had held Black’s of Kinsale Stout which gives an aroma of chocolate, raisins and cracked nuts and a taste of dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. This uniquely Irish whiskey is also blended and bottled at 40%.

West Cork Bourbon Cask Matured Irish Whiskey is a delicate blend of grain (75%) and malt (25%) Irish whiskey matured in first fill bourbon casks. It is a smooth and balanced whiskey, and the taste is one of malt, lingering sweetness, citrus, apple and nutmeg. It is bottled at 40%.

Created by one of Scotland's living whisky legends, the White Heather blend has been revived by Billy Walker, a creation of specially selected single malts and grain whisky, undergoing a dual maturation system. There is an old-school, complex quality to this blend, combining 15 year old Speyside, Islay and North Highland malts to create a balance of flavour between honeyed sweetness and subtle peat smoke. An excellent all-rounder quaffing dram.

Created by Rock Legend Rod Stewart, and distilled at Loch Lomond, Wolfie's blended Scotch Whisky captures the essence of Rock'nRoll in a bottle. A blend of both malt and grain spirit from Loch Lomond, and matured exclusively in American Oak ex-Bourbon casks. the nose kicks of with notes of cinnamon dusted apple pie, alongside sweet butterscotch and vanilla with a faint drop of peat smoke. Cinnamon notes kick of the palate as well, followed by smooth vanilla, juicy poached pear, sweet smoke and syrupy flapjacks.

Adelphi's Private stock is a blend of whiskies selected by one of Scotland's most famed independent bottlers. This is a smooth dram with plenty of honeyed sweetness from Spey and Highland malts, a touch of sea-side maritime notes from a coastal distillery and a gentle peat-fire smokyness in the background. A very traditional and old-fashioned flavoured blend that belongs in any whisky drinker's cupboard.

This unique blended malt is a very rare treat, taking two of Campbeltown's great distilleries and marrying them together. This blend is made of 15 year old triple distilled 'Hazelburn' spirit from Springbank and 16 year old Kilkerran is decadently fruity, with papaya, mango and grilled pineapple. A delicate note of peat smoke comes through as well, finishing lastly on an aroma of ancient earthen-floor warehouses used to mature whisky.

One of the best known whisky brands across the world, carefully blended using whiskies from Scotland, all at least 12 years old. Single malts from BenRiach, Longmorn, Strathisla and others make this a soft, fruity and rounded blend, and other whiskies add a dimension of subtle smoke and oak.

Launched by the Craigellachie Hotel in the heart of Speyside, this blended malt was named after an old device made from copper tubing, which was used by distillery workers to smuggle whisky home (it also happens to be the name of the bar at the Craigellachie Hotel). Created by Master Blender Stuart Morrison using eight different speyside single malts which have been aged in a mixture of refill American and European oak casks, first fill Bourbon casks and rejuvenated casks, before being married in hogsheads. Deliciously fruity with a hint of honey and spice, this is a great example of the regional Speyside style, perfect for drinking neat or adding in to a cocktail.

Official tasting notes for Hankey Bannister. Nose A light aroma with a spiciness which gives extra depth. Colour Creamy toffee with a golden hue. Taste A light, subtle blend, clean, sweet and spicy with honeyed tones and a pleasant lasting finish.

This expression from Isle of Skye contains a high proportion of distinctive island and mellow Speyside malts which, after blending, are returned to cask to 'marry' prior to bottling. Some Sherry notes, dried fruits and a hint of smoke with a smooth, mellow finish.

Comprised of whiskies that have a naturally sweet and honeyed profile as they mature, the Gold Label reserve is known for its vanilla'd, creamy and slightly smoky profile.

A classic Scottish blend, Teacher's Highland Cream is, as the name suggests, a well-rounded smooth whisky. With notes of malt and toffee, as well as fruits, this is an easy drinking whisky, made from some of Scotland's most famous whiskies including GlenDronach and Ardmore.
