Whiskies of Speyside

This special release from Benriach is the first expression in a century to be produced entirely using barley malted from Benriach's historic floor maltings. This whisky has been matured in both bourbon and virgin oak barrels. This brings out notes of barley sugar, almond fudge, orchard apples, vanilla and honeyed pear. A long lasting finish is full of malty notes.

Produced by independent bottlers Elixir Distillers, this series forms part of a mutli-year release inspired by Shakespear's iconic play, Macbeth. Each bottling is named and inspired by one of the iconic characters of the play, and includes a label bearing the work of internationally renowned artist Sir Quentin Blake.

Selected from a small combination of casks from the Benriach distillery in Speyside, this 31 year old the beautiful, fragrant and scented qualities of Benriach. Quintessential in style, offering ripe orchard fruit, buttery apple pie and lashings of heather honey. A tropical note bursts through, with a savoury, earthy character that remains on the palate for a long time.

This expression from Benriach distillery is part of Murray McDavid's 'Benchmark' range and has been finished for three years in Hungarian Tokaji wine Barriques, amrrying perfectly wioth Benriach's vibrant, fruit forward spirit.

On the nose there are aromas of dried pears, tropical fruit and blossom, joined with notes of bright citrus, cereal and spicy oak on the palate, with a sweet, malty and floral finish.

Matured for 12 years in an ex-refill sherry butt, this single cask whisky hails from the Benriach distillery in the heart of Speyside. At its core, this is a classic Benriach, fruity with raisins and apricots surrounded by a blanket of heather honey and vanilla. A long note of milk chocolate coated dried fruit lingers in the finish.

Used mostly as a workhorse distillery for blending until 2004, this expression from Signatory, drawn from a first-fill butt filled in 2000, shares a rare glimpse into the earlier days of this Speyside staple. Aromas of fresh summer berries and mochaccino evolve into a palate of baked delights; Pain au chocolat, date scones and rich ginger crunch. Sweet and buttery notes continue through the finish, along with hints of roasted malt.

BenRiach's most heavily peated whisky, this expression is matured in ex-bourbon and virgin American oak casks, bringing out a caramel and vanilla'd flavour that compliments the stewed fruit and warming intensity of peat smoke.

As part of the new range of Benriach, Rachel Barrie has reimagined the peated expressions under the name 'smoky'. The 10 years old is matured in a combination of Ex-Jamaican Rum, Ex-Bourbon, and Virgin oak barrels. Classically BenRiach, this has all sorts of fruitiness alongside the smoke, fresh, dried, baked.

As part of the new range of Benriach, Rachel Barrie has reimagined the peated expressions under the name 'smoky'. The 12 years old is matured in a combination of Ex-Bourbon, Ex-Sherry, and Ex-Marsala casks. A balance of wood and smoke, the 'smoky twelve' is full of seared citrus peel, smoky honey and fruit notes.

This whisky from Benriach Distillery has been matured for 12 years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels and port casks. This is a whisky with notes of baked fruits, maple honey and cocoa. It has lingering notes of sultana and spiced mocha finish. 

This new expression of the 10 years old is matured in a combination of Ex-Bourbon, Sherry, and American virgin oak. This dram has a balance of classic fresh orchard fruit, honey, and toasted oak, with a tiny hint of smoke. BenRiach distillery rose to fame under the legendary Billy Walker (who now operates GlenAllachie distillery) when Billy sold BenRiach management passed to veteran blender Rachel Barrie.

This 16 year old whisky from Benriach has been maturing in three types of casks, bourbon, sherry and virgin oak. The nose has notes of baked apple, creamy hazelnut malt, ginger spice and honey. The palate offers spiced stewed apples, stone fruits, mellow oak, honeyed malt and candiead peel. There is a very subtle hint of smoke in the background.
