GlenAllachie 'Mizunara & Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish' 17 years old 50%

Mizunara is the name given to a particular type of oak that is most famously associated with Japan and its whisky. This 'Masters of Wood' limited release from the GlenAllachie distillery in Scotland was made using these rare Mizunara oak barrels alongside Oloroso sherry puncheons. There is a distinctive, rich and fragrant aroma of freshly-sawn wood to this dram, joining cocoa and spices, with a character of heather honey that is the signature of the distillery. Dense fruit notes from the sherry casks add a hefty weight to this whisky, finishing with nuts and demerara sugar.
