Keeping with the theme of the 'Enigma' series, the origins of the three ex Bourbon Hogsheads that make up this bottling are unknown. The only information given is they hail from a distillery in Islay. Not your typical medicinal Islay, this whisky is still however a great smoky dram. There are inviting aromas of Applewood, marzipan and vanilla sponge cake on the nose, with notes of creme brulee and smoky, spicy chipotle sauce on the palate, with a coastal and meaty finish of chorizo and rock salt, with underlying notes of honey lemon boiled sweets.
