Miltonduff

Part of famed independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail's new 'Discovery' range, this 10 year old Miltonduff from Speyside, falls under their 'sherry' profile, an introduction to the bold flavour ranges that Scotch has to offer. Dry, sherry aromas mingle with stewed raisin and roasted hazelnut, complemented by a fresh citrus edge. Creamy milk chocolate and orange zest flavours lead to spiced stewed fruits. The finish is fruity with lingering citrus.

Drawn from a refill bourbon hogshead from the Miltonduff distillery, this special single cask bottling matured for four decades before reaching the peak of its maturation. A sensational and defining example of wood influence and spirit in harmony.

 Nose: Oxidised and fusty apple, orchard floor, bruised fruit, Calvados, homemade apple crumble, Chantilly cream, lilac, eau de vie, winegums, sandalwood, perfumed wood, peony, lime zest, lime cordial, elderflower cordial, grated lime zest in cream, almond flour.  

Palate: Tangerines, cream soda, balanced sweetness, apple blossom honey, posh vanilla ice cream, red grapefruit pith, tangy, mint, herbal note, coriander, walnut, lime pickle.  

Finish: Velvety, delicate, elegant.   

This classy old Speyside dram from Miltonduff carries a nose of coconut, warm malt loaf and stewed spiced apples, with a nutty profile given time in the glass. A fresh and vibrant spicy, soft fruit and honeyed flavour throughout shows the perfect balance of oak and spirit. A truly classic BBR selection, reminding us that there is no substitute for long maturation in a refill cask.
