Smooth, Soft & Complex

anCnoc, from the Knockdhu distillery remains one of our favourite single malts from Scotland. It is light and smooth with a surprising depth of flavour. On the nose you get fruity floral notes with some lemon, honey and vanilla creme brulee. The palate is full and sweet, with a good body (mouthfeel) and lingering on a delicate spice and vanilla/fruity flavour.

Part of the brand-new lineup from Balblair, this 12 year old returns the distillery to age statements as opposed to its vintage releases. Matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, this Balblair is beautifully fresh and fruity, with lemon peel, creamy vanilla and a green apple aromas. The palate is succulent and oily, with more citrus again (dried orange) and spices, with a honeyed tone throughout. Finishing sweet and vanilla'd, it lingers with a leathery oaky note. A classic aromatic and fruity Highland single malt.

Situated on the outskirts of Wigtown in Galloway, Bladnoch Distillery has a long turbulent history, seeing long periods of closure and several owners come and go. It's currently undergoing a period of resurrection by Australian entrepreneur David Prior, along with the help of the new master distiller Ian MacMillan (formally of Bunnahabhain). Samsara (meaning 'rebirth') is one of three new releases to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the distillery, boasting maturation in first fill ex Bourbon and ex Californian Red Wine casks. The nose is rich and fragrant with hints of orange blossom vanilla and plums. The wine cask influence comes through more on the palate with rich fruit compote, citrus and a lingering spicy finish.

Glen Grant distillery, founded in 1840, is part of Scotland's famous 'Malt Whisky Trail' on Speyside. This 10-year-old is a very zesty dram, orange, lemon, with creamy vanilla fudge and sweet crisp apple, a classic and gentle and Speyside malt.

The Glenfiddich Solera system is unique amongst Scotch whisky distillers. Fifteen-year-old Glenfiddich matured in either Spanish Oak Ex-Sherry or new oak is married in a large Solera vat made of Oregon pine. The vat is always kept at least half full, ensuring a consistent quality of whisky is maintained whenever it is topped up. The result? A full and fruity nose, with delicate honey and vanilla notes. The taste is elegantly smooth, with a deep flavour that reveals fruit, gentle spice and a touch of oak. The finish is long and satisfying.

What first hits you about the fresh and fragrant Glenfiddich 12 Year Old is the touch of pear in the nose, followed by a distinctive, well-balanced flavour of rich fruit, subtle pine and a hint of peatiness. Expect a satisfyingly long, lingering and rounded aftertaste. One of the most famous names in whisky and arguably the one that started it all.

Perched on the border which separates the Lowlands and Highlands of Scotland, Glengoyne distillery is famous for producing a soft and complex style with not a trace of peat/smoke. This is a great introduction to the distillery, offering a balance of sweet toffee, nutty popcorn and a fresh green apple flavour. This expression features a balance a orchard fruits, toffee, and nuttiness.

Hailing from one of Scotland's most notherly distilleries, Old Pulteney resides in the old fishing village of Wick. Pulteney's whiskies are known for their gentle honeyed, vanilla sweetness, and a touch of marzipan nuttyness. The distinctive slightly salty tang tells of the distilleries home by the sea. A great introductory dram for those new to whisky.

Tamdhu Distillery, which sits in the heart of Speyside, produces a classic rich, old fashioned, rounded style. The distillery fills exclusively ex-Sherry casks for the Tamdhu single malt. The twelve year old expression is full of dried fruits, sweet spiciness, and confectionary notes such as old fashioned boiled sweets and Scottish tablet. A very warming, smooth and rounded dram.

The Glenlivet's 12 year old single malt, one of the most famous whiskies in the world, indtroducing many to the joys of Scotch whisky. It has a soft, fruity nose with notes of vanilla and sweet spice, leading onto the palate with more fruit flavours including green apple and pineapple. One of the truly iconic whiskies of the world.
