Ardbeggians and fans of Islay, we are delighted to announce the new Ardbeg Day 2025 release, Smokiverse, is now available while stocks last. In a first for the distillery, this whisky was created using a high gravity mash, using more grain and less water during the mashing process. The resulting wort (sugary liquid) is denser and has enabled the team at Ardbeg to extract more aromatic esters from their stills. To taste, fruity and estery notes reminiscent of smoked bugglegum joins malted barley and heavily toasted breads. Creamy, sooty and spicy peat smoke joins tropical fruit that lingers on the finish. Unmistakably Ardbeg, this process has given the whisky a distinctive aroma and taste never seen before from the distillery. An exciting new release from Ardbeg.
Produced in collaboration between Whisky Galore and the Wills family of Kilchoman, we are proud to release this special single cask exclusive for New Zealand. Selected from cask #882, this whisky was matured for an initial 5 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, before being transferred for a secondary maturation (also known as a finish) in an ex-Marsala wine cask for over a year.To start, the aroma carries sweet tones of juicy, oven-roasted fruits and charred caramel tart, with a sweet and sour fruit jelly. The peat smoke comes through dense and thick (especially with water added), reminiscent of a wood-fired BBQ on the sea shore, with grilled seafood skewers and a salty, coastal dryness. A lifting citrus note of home-made lemonade comes through in the finish, with the peat leaving a long-lasting, leaving a smouldering, earthen smokyness behind.
This decanter is filled with heavily peated whisky, distilled at Bunnahabhain in 2013 and bottled after 11 years of maturation in 1st fill ex-Oloroso sherry butts. The aroma is richly smoky, with salty smoked meats, fish and savoury soy sauce saltyness. A very rounded and juicy dried fruit flavour joins a peppery and hot spicy kick, lingering on burnt toffee and dense peat smoke.
Presented in a 'Ibisco' decanter, this brand new small batch bottling from Ben Nevis shows the unique character of this Highland dram. Matured in 2nd fill Oloroso sherry butts for 9 years, this Ben Nevis starts with a flavour of creamed brown sugar and butter, moving to tart marmalade and slightly sour fruits. An earthy and savoury spicy character comes through in the finish, with hints of dark, toasted bread and mocchachino.
Aged for 18 years in our finest oak barrels, this award-winning malt is full-bodied and rounded with a deep fruity character. With wonderful sweetness and warmth intertwined with a hint of smoke, Loch Lomond 18 Year Old is a rich and elegant single malt Scotch.
Distilled in 2012, this new Edradour was fully matured for 12 years in 1st-fill ex-Sauternes Hogsheads sourced from the famous wine making region of Bordeaux. This type of cask suits the distillery well, producing a distinctive stone fruit and waxy honey flavour as the whisky matures. Rich and sticky, but never too sweet, this is a finely balanced dram.
