Part of Diageo?s Flora and Fauna series, showcasing some of Scotland?s real hidden gems. This expression comes from Blair Athol distillery, nestled in Pitlochry and the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.
Intensely rich and sweet on the nose, with notes of maderised wine, sun-dried apricots and rich treacle toffee intensify as the whisky breathes. With a wee splash of water, the wine notes fall back, and sweet rich notes of dried fruits come to the front.
The palate somewhat mirrors the nose, with rich sweet notes once again becoming dominant. Classic sherry spiciness marries perfectly to add complexity to this wonderfully rich malty dram.
