This expression is a great example of an old Islay whisky, Bold, but yet well balanced. Distilled in 1997 at Bowmore distillery, this whisky has been slumbering away for twenty five years before being finished for an unknown period of time in an ex Pedro Ximenez Hogshead. The nose is as intense as you would expect, notes of burnt rubber, sweet peat, rich orchard fruits and a distinct resinous woody note. (freshly cut pine) The peat and rich sweetness of the PX combine wonderfully on the palate, with elements of Bowmore's classic sweet peat combining with big BBQ flavours and classic tangy and fruity PX sherry sweetness.
