WELCOME TO WHISKY GALORE

For the Marriage of Casks series by Single Malts of Scotland, a range comes together here, comprised of single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Speyside distillery that was matured for a huge 31 years and then bottled at 48.3%. There were just 806 bottles of this one released, which boasts notes of orchard fruit, apricot, pineapple, ginger, floral honey, marmalade, and herbs.

In this bottling of Ardmore, casks have been married together to showcase a nice dustiness, refined sooty ashes, old engine grease and soft menthol. Then mild leathery notes, mossy notes and burning hay. Yellow apples with lemon zest, toasted bread and drops of gentian. Slightly sweet, iodized smoke. Waxy and oily, with more sooty notes, camphor and wood polish. Mid-palate hints of roasted coffee beans appear, followed by firm salted notes, hessian and hints of old herbal liqueurs.

An excellent example of the little-known Balmenach distillery, bottled by the Thompson Bros. On the nose, a nutty scent of roasted hazelnut joins cocoa powder, pecan pie and dark chocolate. To taste, there are lots of jammy dark fruits, with sticky dates, figs and plums joining an earthy dunnage warehouse vibe. Nutty and chocolatey on the finish, with spicy fig jam and cinnamon.

Distilled in 2016 at Dailuaine in Speyside and matured for 7 years in ex-Oloroso sherry hogsheads, this new release offers a rustic style, with plenty of oranges, cooking spices and a very particular salty edge. The citrus and fruity qualities continue on the palate, slightly tropical with a full and waxy texture that could be mistaken for Clynelish, lingering on ginger & orange again.

Matured for 13 years at Linkwood in a refill hogshead cask, this single cask bottling from Thompson Bros shows beautiful character of this old distillery. The nose carries a sweet note of toasted museli and vanilla custard, with delicate orchard fruits and a chalky minerality. To taste, a medley of nuts & fruits and warm baked pastry, finishing with citrus and a hint of umami savouryness.

This special 80/20 blend features just two distilleries - Nc'Nean from the very western reaches of the west coast of Scotland, and from Dornoch in Sutherland, Scotland. A very fragrant nose, with elements of ripe and unripe fruits like mango and apricot, moving to candied almonds and bitter herbs. Jammy and fruity on the palate, there is a subtle hint of smoke, salt and herbs again.

Distilled at the little-known Royal Brackla distillery near Nairn, this 10 year old single malt has a very sweet and dessert-like flavour, with salted caramel, toffee apple and fudge notes throughout. On the palate, it is very rich and buttery, with the charred oak casks adding depths of pepper and woody tones.

Chosen from an undisclosed distillery in Speyside, this 11 year old has a flavour that reflects its ingredients, with notes of grist (ground malted barley) and boiled barley sugar sweets. Sultanas and a hint of savoury, struck-match sulphur joins in, becoming meaty and gamey. The finish is full of lime and grapefruit, with a crisp ending.

Blended from a small selection of single malt whiskies from the northern Highlands, Speyside and Islay, this all-malt whisky is bottled from a 1,200 litre charred oak vat, essentially a type of solera system. The resulting dram is oily and textured, with an old-school vibe that sees waxy, fruity tones married with a heart of gentle smoke for balance.

Created from a blend of 3 of the distilleries in Sutherland, this blended malt is comprised of whiskies from Clynelish, Dornoch and even a wee drop of the legendary Brora, a once 'ghost' distillery that was closed from 1983 until 2021. Notes of caramelised butter, pineapple and white grapes join a flinty mineral quality, finishing very waxy and weighty on the palate.

Produced in collaboration between Whisky Galore and the Wills family of Kilchoman, we are proud to release this special single cask exclusive for New Zealand. Selected from cask #882, this whisky was matured for an initial 5 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, before being transferred for a secondary maturation (also known as a finish) in an ex-Marsala wine cask for over a year.

To start, the aroma carries sweet tones of juicy, oven-roasted fruits and charred  caramel tart, with a sweet and sour fruit jelly. The peat smoke comes through dense and thick (especially with water added), reminiscent of a wood-fired BBQ on the sea shore, with grilled seafood skewers and a salty, coastal dryness. A lifting citrus note of home-made lemonade comes through in the finish, with the peat leaving a long-lasting, leaving a smouldering, earthen smokyness behind.

Aged for 18 years in our finest oak barrels, this award-winning malt is full-bodied and rounded with a deep fruity character. With wonderful sweetness and warmth intertwined with a hint of smoke, Loch Lomond 18 Year Old is a rich and elegant single malt Scotch.

Distilled in 2012, this new Edradour was fully matured for 12 years in 1st-fill ex-Sauternes Hogsheads sourced from the famous wine making region of Bordeaux. This type of cask suits the distillery well, producing a distinctive stone fruit and waxy honey flavour as the whisky matures. Rich and sticky, but never too sweet, this is a finely balanced dram.

A mature single malt from esteemed distillery Ben Nevis, this whisky is 32 years old. Distilled in 1991 in the depths of the Highlands, this malt spent its full 32 years in a first-fill oloroso sherry barrel, yielding only 499 bottles. A distinctive member of independent bottler Signatory Vintage's 'Signatory Symington's Choice' range. Notes of dark chocolate and orange zest. Marmalade and fresh figs, a full bodied dram. 

This organic gin is made from a proprietary base of botanicals, enhanced with single, seasonal distillations of citruses and herbs. These individual components are then blended together for each batch, and slowly diluted down to bottling strength. A rich and flavourful gin.
