Loch Lomond

This limited-edition release from Loch Lomond was distilled in 2010 in a mixture of Loch Lomond?s distinct straight necked stills, as well as their more traditional swan necked stills. It was bottled in partnership with 2010 St Andrew?s Open winner Louis Oosthuizen and released in 2022, the year of the 150^th anniversary of the Open at St Andrews.

The spirit was aged in three types of American Oak casks, which alongside the use of Loch Lomond?s signature stills, combined result in Loch Lomond?s signature style of sweet soft fruits, vanilla, and hints of smoke.

The nose is lovely and light, dominated by notes of lemon and floral lavender, with gentle hints of malty biscuit sweetness rounding everything off.

The palate is classic Loch Lomond, gentle wafts of smoke are married wonderfully with sweet notes of poached pears, stewed peaches, and rich vanilla. Rounded off with a lingering finish of dry cedar wood, sugared almonds and natural vanilla pods.

Using a combination of peated whisky made in Loch Lomond's unique combination of straight-neck and swan-neck stills, this Highland Single Malt has a soft, fruity and sweet character woven with a gentle peatyness - a warming and mild smoke similar to that of an old fireplace or bonfire. There aren't many producers of this style in the Highland's, and it is a great example of how whisky might have been a century ago when peat was the only common heat source for the drying of malted barley.

Distilled using both traditional stills as well as Loch Lomond's signature straight necked stills and aged for ten years exclusively in American oak ex Bourbon, refill and recharred casks. The nose is initially floral and herbal, with hints of new oak and lashings of gentle sweet spices joining in after further exploration. The accompanying palate is gentle and sweet. Notes of green apples, vanilla and gentle cinnamon spice evokes memories of homemade apple pie served with vanilla ice cream, all married together with the gentlest wisp of highland peat smoke result in a remarkably drinkable whisky.

Loch Lomond's 12 year old single malt is created from a combination of casks, ex-American oak, refill and charred - bringing together toasty oak notes to compliment the distillery's fruity character of pear and orange. There is a layered sweetness of vanilla and just a hint of peat and smoke.

Matured for a total of 14 years, this new Loch Lomond spent the latter part of its time in French Limousin oak casks. The signature notes of fruit, honey & spice join a lingering soft smokyness that comes through, like charred and toasted wood. Sweet fruity tones of apple, pear and pineapple are balanced by citrus and gentle spices from the oak barrels. A great new expression from the shores of Loch Lomond in Scotland.

Loch Lomond's new 21 year old offers a malty, fruity and lightly smoky Highland style, chosen from a mixture of casks that are married together for a final maturation period allowing the flavours to mingle and combine. This is a great all-rounder whisky, with sweet fudge, fruits and cinnamon spice, fading away to oak and mild peat smoke in the finish.
